Kathleen "Kathy" O. Staack Eick, 84, of Iowa City, was called home to Heaven on Friday, December 19, 2025. Kathy was born October 5, 1941, in
Waterloo, Iowa. She was the daughter of Leslie and Gertrude (Torgler) Staack and graduated in 1959 from West Waterloo High School. She was united in holy matrimony to James H. Eick on August 15, 1959 and enjoyed 66 beautiful years of marriage. They had three children together.
Kathy's truest joy in life was being a mother and a grandmother, and she cherished watching her children and grandchildren grow. She loved attending their many activities and school functions over the years. Kathy most enjoyed when her young grandkids would visit in the summer. Being an active part of her kids and grandkids' lives was truly the highlight of her life.
Kathy was a longtime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City and served on numerous activities such as choir, LWML, and the Human Care committee. She enjoyed being a member of the PEO Chapter JF with many of her friends. A loyal Hawkeye fan, Kathy enjoyed tailgating at football games with family and friends and cheering on the Iowa basketball teams. Like her parents, she was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed traveling to Wrigleyville West in Arizona for spring training season.
Kathy was a wonderfully loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved the Lord with all her heart, her church, and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Gertrude Staack, and her brother Tom Staack.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Jim; her three children: Tim Eick of
Iowa City, Iowa; Tom (Rochelle) Eick of Frisco, Texas; Tami (John) Ceurvorst of Burbank, California; her seven grandchildren: Brandon Eick of Michigan, Kyle Eick of Virginia, Kaileigh Ceurvorst of California, Kate (Benny) Eback of North Dakota, Cassandra (Kyle) Ortega of California, Katrina Ceurvorst of California, Caed Ceurvorst of Arizona.
