Kathleen "Pat" Miller, 95, of Hiram, OH, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025. She was born on March 14, 1930, to William and Arlene (Payne) Reynolds in Parkman, Ohio. A valedictorian graduate of Parkman High School, she married Earl L. Miller of Chardon on June 4, 1949. They enjoyed 55 years together before his passing in 2004. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Charlie, Jack, and Bob Reynolds and sister, Mary Beechy, her infant son, James, and her grandson, Scott Miller.
Katie, as Earl called her, was known as an Irish spirit with an infectious smile. She was also known as "Grandma Cookie," as she was constantly baking cookies for grandkids and church mission trips. Pat, as others called her, served as secretary to the Geauga County Agricultural Agent before moving to Mantua in 1966 where she loved being a school bus driver at Crestwood for 22 years. She was a member of Mantua Center Christian Church, served as Elder, and sang in church choirs for 75 years. A gifted singer, she was a member of the Singing Grannies, the Hiram Community Chorus, and sang for President and Mrs. Bill Clinton in the White House. She was an active member and officer in the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 193 and a 60+ year member of the Crescent Chapter #7 of the OES, Troy Adet Club, Troy Pinochle Club, a member of the Champion Eastern Star golf team. Pat enjoyed cooking, golfing, sewing, card club, and dancing with her husband. Kathleen wrote a card or letter to someone every day throughout her life. Perhaps if you knew her, you received one. Known for her witty sense of humor and funny stories, she always quipped, "Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story."
The highlight of her life was her children: Ted (Debbie) Miller of Mantua and Peggy (Rick) Painley of Hiram, and her grandchildren, Leanne (Kayla) Anderson, Lauren Painley, and Tim Miller. Other survivors include her niece, Mary Anne (John) Sobecki, great granddaughter, Devin Miller, great-great granddaughter, Kennedy, and many other nieces and nephews.
