Kathleen A. Murdick

Kathleen Ann Murdick slipped away peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 21, 2024, at the age of 67. Born in Detroit on March 9, 1957, to Marcella Ann (Hanselman) and Francis G. Murdick, Kathy was for most of her life, a Charlevoix resident, and one of its sweetest.
After high school, Kathy traveled, settling for a time in Philadelphia and then Daytona Beach, where she and her partner Everett Brewer welcomed two beautiful babies, Kristi and Devin. Kathy returned to Charlevoix with her young children in 1990 to stay for good.
Kathy loved spending time with her family, listening to music (especially Tom Petty's Wildflowers), reading the Bible, and praying for, and with, others. A devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, she was known for her twinkling smile and her passion for, and calling to, caregiving. She was employed as a caregiver for many years, and for over a decade dedicated herself to the care of her aging mother. An active and respected member of Charlevoix's recovery community, Kathy was loved by many, especially the younger women whom she encouraged.
Kathy is survived by her son, Devin (Bud) Brewer and his life partner, Leann Loxas, both of Boyne Falls MI; brothers, John (Marcia) and Jerry (Carol); sisters, Celeste Perron, Julie Murdick, Rebecca Murdick, and her twin, Karen Ann Pizzorni; granddaughter, Serenity Bartha; 14 nieces and nephews, and many friends, including her dearest friend, Kim C..
Kathy was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristi Marie; parents, Marcella and Francis; brother, Joseph; and brother-in-law, Leon (husband of Celeste).
The childlike sweetness of Kathy will linger in the hearts of all who had the good fortune to know her.
