Gilbert Murdick, 78, of Lake City, died on Saturday, February 8th, 2025, at his home.
He was born February 22, 1946, a son to the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Barr) Murdick.
Gilbert grew up in Indiana, PA on the family farm. After graduating from United High School in 1965, Gilbert began work in machinery at the Bethlehem Steel Corporation. A new calling began later with Neal Trucking, where he spent several years before saving enough funds to purchase and operate his rig independently. For more than three decades, he established himself as an owner-operator with Mercer Transportation out of Louisville, KY. Gil retired from a job well done and yet continued to remain active; he had a strong work ethic and integrity while finishing a job
Gil had a knack for mechanics and often lent a helping hand to his sons and grandsons in the garage. The memories made in those small garages are fondly looked at by all his family. Gilbert was known for his dedication to his family and his passion for cars. Gil was also an active parishioner of the Sterrettania Alliance Church.
In addition to his parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Murdick; sister, Jennifer Cochran; brother, Don Barr; and grandson, Colby Lee.
Gil will be greatly missed by his family which includes his wife of over fifty years, Alice (Mack) Murdick; daughters, Lisa J. Murdick and Deanne Bates (Tony); sons, John Murdick (Roxanne) and Carl Murdick (Margaret); sisters, Rita Lawson and Minta Livingood (Ed); brothers, Charles Murdick (Joanne) and Randy Murdick (Vicky); 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday February 13, 2025, from 3:00pm to the time of service of 6:00pm at the Edder Family Funeral Home LLC., 309 Main St. E., Girard, PA 16417.
