HANOVERTON - Timothy "Tim" Leake, a cherished soul known for his kindness and vibrant spirit, passed away at the age of 70 on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center.
Born on May 28, 1954, in East Liverpool, Tim was the beloved son of the late William and Betty (Campbell) Leake, and his presence enriched the lives of those around him throughout his journey on this earth.
A proud United High School class of 1973 graduate, Tim dedicated many years of service as a highway technician for the Ohio Department of Transportation. His commitment to excellence and his work ethic were evident to all who knew him. Beyond his professional life, Tim was deeply involved in the greyhound rescue community, particularly with the Ohio Greyhound Gathering and Adoption Rescue Group. His passion for these graceful animals was unmistakable, and his greyhound, Dottie Jane, was a constant and loving companion by his side.
Tim's life was one of shared joy and adventure with his husband, John Nave. The couple, who married on August 9, 2015, after 22 years together, shared a love for antiquing and dining out. Their relationship was a testament to true partnership and mutual respect, and they cherished every moment spent in each other's company.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his husband, John Nave; nieces, Diane (David) Olshawsky and Christine (Andre) Povownik; sister-in-laws, Maryanne Leake and Joyce Nave; nephew, James Nave; and his adopted daughter, Heather (Ryan) Sawyer-Clapsadie. Tim's legacy will also live on through his grandchildren, Samantha, Cassidy, Nathan, and Vivian, who will carry forward the lessons of love and compassion he instilled in them.
Tim was predeceased by his brother, Richard Leake, and his nephew, Jason Leake. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his memory will continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration.
A celebration of Tim's life will be held at a later date, arranged by his family.
