Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, Inc, of Indiana on Oct. 1, 2025.
Jon E. Cresson, 77 of Penn Run unexpectedly died at his home, Tuesday, September 30, 2025. Born December 17, 1947 in Hillside, Westmoreland County, Jon was a son of the late Alfred Joseph Cresson and Alice Hariett (Paynter) Cresson. He was the beloved husband of Christine J. (Ladley) Cresson whom he married July 16, 1995.
Jon was a 1966 graduate of United High School where he quarterbacked a winning season. He established lifelong friendships with his teammates. Jon furthered his education at WVU where he earned a bachelor's degree in education.
For nearly 25 years he's been a partner and co-owner of Indiana Auto Glass. Jon and his co-owner, Bob Paynter were partners, cousins and best friends.
From a young age it was said that Jon was full of wanderlust. As an outdoorsman and avid fly fisherman, he traveled to Alaska, Montana, British Columbia, Argentina and Chile, to name a few. He always said that his favorite fly-fishing partner was his best friend, his wife. Together they fly fished from Maine to Key West, and from PA to Montana and Colorado.
Jon was a member of Trout Unlimited, Ken Sink Chapter. He was also a member of the Indiana Moose and the Sinnemahoning Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed many days with friends and family at his Member's Camp in Potter County.
Jon was a man larger than life. He had good times wherever he went and no matter who he was with. He was a kind, caring, generous and selfless individual. He had the rare ability to make strangers feel like friends. Jon lived life to the fullest, but with a caring attitude for others. The care he had for his wife, aka "Babsie", was unequaled. His caring even extended to the stray cats around his business.
In addition to his wife Chris, Jon is lovingly remembered by his brother, Fred Cresson (Ron) of Doylestown, numerous friends, co-workers and extended family.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved sister, Phyllis "Kitty" Cresson and special friends, Pete and Lisa Contankos.
