Our sweet Kathleen "Katsy" Roach, because of her faith in Jesus, entered heaven on February 9 at the age of 93. She was born in Springfield (Hungry Hill) MA in 1928, the youngest of 4 girls. She went to Civil Service School in 1946 and spent many years in government as an administrative assistant. Her positions included the CIA in Washington DC and IRS in Springfield MA. She was known as a hard worker and described as the best secretary they ever had and one who did everything with perfect detail. She lived on 6A in Barnstable for many years in the 1980s and then after returning to Springfield to care for her mother and sister, she returned to her lifelong love for Cape Cod. She lived at Cranberry Knoll in Dennis for the next 21 years. In 2018, she moved in with her niece Krista and her husband David Kerr in West Barnstable, which was the town she had first lived in on Cape Cod. She loved having her own fireplace for the first time in her life!
Although Katsy never married or had children of her own, she had more family than most. She is survived by her nieces and nephews; Theresa Hayes, Christopher Hayes, Kathleen Baker, Grace Doyle, Tom Doyle, Jim Doyle, Bob Doyle, Paul Doyle and Steve Doyle, god son Mike Goguen and their families. Additionally, her great nieces and nephews, Seth Hayes, Lindsay Fleming, Rachel Flynn and Angi Waaramaa and their families, were a great part of her life. Her three sisters Cecelia Monahan, Bernadette Hayes, and Theresa Doyle predeceased her.
Katsy's relationship with people was a direct reflection of her relationship with Jesus. Her unwavering faith in her Heavenly Father was the foundation upon which she built her life. She touched many lives as she gave generously, extended grace, and sincerely loved and valued her friends and family. Katsy could often be found on the phone offering encouragement, knitting scarves or preparing bagged lunches to donate to homeless shelters, or making a cup of tea to share with company. Whether it was lifelong friends or new ones, she always ended the conversation saying, "I love you" and she meant it. Although she is greatly missed by those she left on earth, we take comfort and celebrate that she is with her Lord in heaven.
Gathering for celebration on Saturday, February 19 at 10 AM with service following at 11 AM, at the Chapman Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Dr. Yarmouth.
