Kathy was born February 14, 1947, in Chicago, IL, to Harold and Dorothy (Fitzgerald) Behnke. Kathy graduated from Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, Illinois in 1964. On January 8, 1970, she married Samuel Ross in St. Joseph, Michigan. Kathy was employed for over 35 years with the Family Independence Agency in Benton Harbor. Although she retired in 2008, she still enjoyed attending monthly lunches with the other retirees.
Kathy spent her retirement years spoiling all of her grandchildren. They will always cherish their annual "before school" shopping trips, where they got to spend quality time with their Grandma Kathy. Her 2 year old great-grandson, Gunner, looked forward to her visits as she always carried a snack in her purse for him. Kathy loved baking treats and making sure everyone had their favorites for the holidays. She will be deeply missed by her family.
Kathy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law – Scott and Heather (Hodgson) Ross of St. Joseph; 3 grandchildren – Brittany (Kaleb) Halstead of Berrien Springs, and Nick and Jake Ross of St. Joseph; 1 great-grandson – Gunner Halstead; and, sister-in-law – Lynda Ficca of Oak Park, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband – Samuel; and parents – Harold and Dorothy Behnke.
