VENCL, Kathleen "Kathy", 79, of Chagrin Falls, OH, passed away on Thursday October 24,2024.
The Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday November 1,2024 at Valley Art Center from 5:00-7:00pm.
Kathy was born in Cleveland, OH on July 9, 1945. She graduated from Kenston High School and continued to Kent State University for art education.
Kathy was married to Robert Vencl on July 29, 1967; they were married 57 years.
Kathy worked in medical recordkeeping for Curtis Clinic for 12 years. She then went on to teach at the Valley Art Center, becoming Chair of Children's Education. During her 30-year span with the Valley Art Center, she taught painting, mixed media and ceramics for children. Part of her time at the VAC was spent working with Darlene Jackson organizing the "Adventures in Art" trips to multiple cities both domestically and internationally. In addition to her work at the Valley Art Center, she also taught at the English Nanny and Governess School specializing in early art education. Kathy enjoyed concerts, specifically at Severance Hall and Blossom Music Center, and travel within Europe and to the Outer Banks of the Carolinas. She was also actively involved in volunteering for Art by the Falls.
Kathy is survived by her husband Robert Vencl, sister Nancy Huff, daughter Sarah Vencl, and other family and friends.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Lottie Drossel and daughter Gretchen Vencl.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Valley Art Center in Chagrin Falls, OH. The family of Kathleen Vencl wishes to thank the Oncology Department and Hospice Services of The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
