Kathryn Barta-Orlet, of Antigo, died on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was 71 years old. She was born on June 7, 1954 in Antigo, a daughter of Eugene Barta of Antigo and the late Nancy (Nehls) Barta. She married Michael Orlet on June 24, 1985 in Antigo.

She was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1972. Kathyrn began her career in the healthcare field as an EMT, later pursuing her nursing degree at NorthCentral Technical College in Wausau. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Langlade Memorial Hospital for many years. In 2006 she obtained her Bachelors in Nursing at Silver Lake College, and finished her career as an Oncology Nurse.

Kathyrn loved to garden and experimented with making her own jellies and canning. She also had a passion for baking, especially making pies for the Humane Society raffles. Kathryn enjoyed volunteering often with the Humane Society and would make baskets for their raffles. She enjoyed the companionship of her two dogs, Gunnar and Kato.

In addition to her husband and father, survivors include a son, Robert Orlet (Ivy) of Antigo; a grandson, Ethan Orlet; a sister, Cheryl Keen of Antigo; a brother, William (Jamie) Barta and Matthew of Surprise, AZ; a brother-in-law, Raymond Orlet of Antigo; nieces, Nanette (Daniel) Griese and Chole Barta; and Nephews, Jack Barta, Matthew, and Robert Kuri. Kathryn is also survived by close friends, Doctors Noel and Lakshmi Deep, whose children Nikki and Nathan called Kathryn Grandma.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by two sons, Tony Evans and Frank Lafayette.

A memorial service also celebrating the life of her father Eugene will be held Friday, September 5, at 7 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, from 3:30 to 7 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Langlade County Humane Society, 2204 Clermont St, Antigo, WI 54409.
