Kathryn Ruth Daily
September 29, 1968 – September 27, 2024
Kathryn Ruth Daily, beloved mother, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024, in Seattle, Washington, just shy of her 56th birthday.
Kathryn was the cherished and proud daughter of George and Patricia Daily, big sister to Suzanne and Michael, and devoted mother to her only child, Ziah Grace Olivia Daily. She is survived by her father, siblings, four nieces and nephews and her beloved daughter. Kathyrn had a way of making people feel special with her radiant smile and generous heart.
Art was Kathryn's true passion, and her artistry shined brightly in everything she did. From murals to wedding photography to donating her talents at her daughter's schools, Kathryn found joy in creating beauty. She studied Fine Art and Photography at Kendall College of Art and Design, earned a BA in Fine Art, and brought her creative talents into everything she touched. She kept an art studio for many years and was constantly creating art. One of her murals can still be seen at Beacon Hill P-Patch.
After college, Kathryn's independent spirit brought her to Seattle, driving out alone from Michigan in the 1990s. She rapidly made many friends here and worked managing Ala Francaise, a local bakery and started exhibiting her art at local galleries and arts shows.
In 2002, she was overjoyed at the birth of her daughter Ziah and dedicated herself to providing Ziah with a wonderful childhood and an excellent education.
Kathryn spent her career in management and human resources, working at Lifelong AIDS Alliance, Country Doctor Community Clinic, and most recently as Assistant Director of Human Resources at the Archdiocese of Seattle. This work allowed her to help people in meaningful ways, which she loved. No one worked harder than Kathryn and she brought her kindness to every aspect of her work.
Outside of work and art, she spent her time with friends, watching plays, taking long walks, and indulging in nachos, grilled cheese, and Ethiopian food. One of her greatest joys was shopping with Ziah at TJ Maxx to celebrate birthdays, Christmas, and back-to-school. She was enormously proud to see Ziah graduate college in June of this year.
Kathryn's life will be celebrated on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Church (820 18th Avenue, Seattle, WA); the Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a gathering at 11 a.m., and interment at 2 p.m. at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline, WA.
All are welcome to attend the funeral and celebrate Kathryn's life. Those wishing to send or bring flowers may do so or in lieu of flowers, you may make donations to Coyote Central Art School in Kathryn's memory. Those attending the funeral are asked to please remember to honor Kathryn by wearing a touch of green, her favorite color.
Kathryn will be dearly missed, but her love, warmth, and creativity will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

I first met Kathryn in Junior High, but really became what I considered to be lifelong friends in high school. As I reflect on our past, I know that her friendship and light were an integral part to the person I am today. Although we had not been in touch for many years, I still feel her loss. I remember how excited and proud she was to become a mother to Ziah. I will always remember her laugh - and how she could turn tense situations into laugh fests with a funny face and zany comment. I will always cherish dancing our hearts out to Dead or Alive, jamming to the Cult and singing our lungs out to Duran Duran. There are still songs that always bring a memory of Kathryn when I hear them. Music and Art were so intertwined into our mutual bonds, that it is no surprise to me to read about her lifelong passion to art and the AIDs cause. I have many fond memories of going to concerts, sleepovers and staying up late to watch Friday Night Videos. There are too many moments to list, but I will forever remember her ability to smile and laugh with her entire being. A particular snapshot lasts in my memory of her flipping her hair back and singing (many different songs can be inserted here). My heartfelt sympathies to her family - Ziah, Sue, Mike and Mr. Daily. She touched so many people in our circle, even those she only met briefly, with her spirit and light. I will truly miss the opportunity to reconnect and share our life journeys. May you all find peace in the positive impactshe made throughout her life story. Love always, Eva Petry-Cheong

Kathryn was a Best Friend. Her family moved to my neighborhood in Holland and we quickly became friends in the same school class. From 6th grade to high school graduation, and through the college years in Michigan, we enjoyed being together.
Our shared love of art, sports and music kept us close. Kathryn had a generous spirit, a love of helping people and was always full of fun! The years growing up wouldn´t be the same without her friendship. My last time with her, was a visit to Seattle to see her baby daughter Ziah. She was so Joyful to be a Mom!
Prayers to Ziah, Susie and all her family.
Kathryn - Thank you for being such a caring friend, I´m grateful for the time we had.

I was blessed to know Kathryn at the Seattle Archdiocese as she was part of the interviewing team in HR. Although I didn´t know her very well, I knew immediately that she had a heart as big as the moon and was the type of person that put other first and really cared about people She smiled with her eyes and had a big, beautiful smile at that. I will miss seeing her around and when we did see each other it was always with a hug and a warm wave. I will miss her presence so much. May she rest in God´s grace and eternal peace.

Kathy, we met as teenagers when you used to visit Eva in Ann Arbor. You were so tall, generous, and full of life, I never met anybody like you. I haven´t seen you since the early 90´s, but my memory of you is still vivid. I loved reading about your life since then. You were a big ray of sunshine with the most radiant laugh. Kind hearted, funny, fearless, loved music (especially Duran Duran), and game for anything. I´m lucky I met you then. I´m happy to learn that you built a joyous life in Seattle with your daughter, Ziah. I have dear friends and family in Seattle. I wish I could´ve visited and caught up with you many decades later. I´ve been meaning to visit Seattle for some time now. A group of us from Ann Arbor (Kana, Eva, Debbie, Camille, and Steph) donated trees in your memory since they live much longer than flowers. Perhaps a mini arbor to add in Washington... Rest in peace and power, Kathryn Daily. And happy belated 56th birthday. Ziah, may the spirit of your mother carry you through your life. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
