Kathryn (Katie) Reed, of Ft. Pierce, FL passed away peacefully on December 7th 2022, at the age of 46. Katie was such a light in this sometimes dark world. She will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. She touched the lives of so many people, across all walks of life. During her time on earth she made a point to help anyone with whatever she had. Anyone who knows Katie, knows her family and friends meant everything to her. In her eyes, each of you reading this held one of those titles at some point in her life or you wouldn't be here.
Katie's love of life was evident in the way she lived it. A simple trip to the beach or a loved ones birthday often turned into party time with family, friends, and of course food! Her spirit, sass, and sarcasm often provided as much nourishment to the soul as her food. To eat her cooking was to taste love and to drink one of her concoctions could often lead to drunkenness.
Katie spent her life serving others. From selling strawberries at Neill's farm, bartending & waitressing at R.J. Gators and Berry Fresh Café, to adding sparkle to earrings at Randans, Katie brought out the best in her daily transactions with people. Her regulars loved her and her friends and family couldn't get enough of her. She always had an easy smile and listening ear.
Second only to her passion for feeding family was her love of the beach. Ocean or river, it didn't matter. As long as she could have her feet in the sand and feel the sun on her face, Katie was happy. Her joy and laughter were contagious as well as her ability to talk you into getting into a little trouble. There aren't enough words to sum up a person of her magnitude. Katie was a bright and beautiful star. She will be truly missed by everyone who had the opportunity to interact and feel her light.
Katie is survived by her two beautiful daughters, Abbie and Amber Reed of Ft. Pierce; her son, Ashten Reed of Port St. Lucie; her granddaughter, Elaine Pendl of Ft. Pierce; her parents, Joe and Elaine Matthews of Ft. Pierce; her older sister, Kathaleen Mitchell of Vero Beach; her younger sister, Kristen Wynne (Thomas Wynne) of Clarksville, TN; her brother, Darren Matthews (Jennifer Matthews) of Port St. Lucie; her younger brother, Robert Matthews (Randi Matthews) of Twin City, GA; her lifetime companion, Jason Reed of Port St. Lucie; and numerous nieces and nephews as well as her three fur babies
She will be greeted in heaven by her grandparents Frank and Helen Ford and Loretta and Urban Matthews, as well as, her aunts, Susan Matthews, Susan Stephenson and Teresa Smith and uncle Glenn Stephenson.
Services will be held Friday, December 16th. Visitation at 5pm with memorial service starting at 6 pm. All are welcome to join.
