Obituary of Kathryn A. Rensel
Allegany, NY- Kathryn A. Rensel passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (January 16, 2024) at her home after a long illness.
Born June 28, 1947, in Harrisburg, PA she was the daughter of Stanley and Mabel Albright Walker. She was previously married to Leo Hayes.
She graduated from William Penn High School in Harrisburg in 1965 and went on to Elizabethtown College graduating in 1970. Kate was a teacher for the Bradford Area School District for almost 40 years and loved helping all the students she taught.
She had a special group of friends that she loved traveling with throughout the years. Kate was avid and loyal to the Buffalo Bills and never missed a game. She enjoyed helping people and loved her grandchildren immensely, calling them her rays of sunshine.
Surviving are her two children Arthur (Kasey) Hayes and Andrew Hayes both of Allegany; her grandchildren Michael Hayes, Abigail Hayes, Landon Hayes, and Norah Hayes; a niece Sarah Fishel; 2 nephews, Stanley Walker III and Sean Walker; a sister-in-law Judy Walker and two special friends Patty Esquer and Andrea Thompson.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother Stanley Walker II and a sister Sharon Wert.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date and will be announced.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig, and Hartle Funeral Home.
