Kathy Erwin Black, 67, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 5th, 2025 at CaroMont regional medical center in Gastonia, with her loving family by her side.
She was the daughter of the late Shelby Nivens Cope and James “Bud” Erwin. Kathy married her loving husband, Keith Black, on November 17, 1984 and was married for 41 wonderful years. She was a devoted member of Union Community Church. Kathy was a dedicated hard worker and spent over 40 years working for A&E textile Groves Plant. Kathy will be remembered as a great wife, a great sister, and was a blessing to all of her nieces and nephews. She was a trusting and dedicated friend. Kathy truly blessed every life she touched. Her beautiful brown hair and green eyes will never be forgotten.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Shelby Cope and James Erwin; brother, Terry; sister, Debbie; grandfather, Paul; grandmother, Estelle; great-great-nephew, Allen.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, Keith Black; sisters, Robin Shires of Dallas, Lisa Erwin of Gastonia; nieces, Billie, Jennifer (Terrell), Bridgett (Barry), and Suzanna (Bubba); nephews; Mark, Tim (Christina), Travis, Demarcus (Ann), Clint; many loving great-nieces and nephews; special relationships she treasured with great niece, Nicole; great-great-niece, Graylynn; all her fur babies; The Golden Girls group at her church; she absolutely cherished all of these relationships.
There will be a Celebration of Life service at her church after the holidays.
