Kathy Darney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cartmell-Davis Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc. - Main Office on Oct. 14, 2024.
Kathy M. (Joyce) Darney of Plymouth, Massachusetts formerly of Thomaston, Maine.
The world lost a cherished mother who was so dearly loved, on Friday October 11th
Kathy was born on July 3, 1970 in Plymouth, Massachusetts. She was raised in Marshfield, MA, and spent her childhood on Bluefish Cove. She graduated from Marshfield High School. She later went onto Mount Ida College to receive her Associates Degree in Graphic Design. Years later she went to the University of Maine and received her Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies, with a minor in Human Resource Management.
She married in June 2000 to her only true love, Stephen Darney. Although divorced; they remained close friends.
Kathy was the proud mother of a daughter and a son. Kalen and Stephen. She loved and adored her children above all else. If you were lucky enough to be present when she gazed into her children's faces the pure joy radiating from her face would blind you.
She was a passionate educator who tried to make a difference to the students she taught. She taught special education in Maine at Midcoast Children's Developmental services. The children were ages 3 to 5 years old. In Massachusetts she worked at Carver Middle High School, grades 6, 7, and 8. Again, as a special educator. She encouraged her students to believe in their full potential. She believed in helping them in any positive, creative way possible.
Kathy personified never backing down, most notably in her fight against pancreatic cancer. She showed grit and grace.
She enjoyed art, literature, and photography. She spent time vegetable and flower gardening, often encouraging her children to join her. She also loved spending time at the beach regardless of the season, however summer was her favorite.
"Mom, our hearts are broken, we miss you endlessly, you will forever be our sunshine. We will miss your laughter. When we look toward the sky we will hear you tell us "I love you more."
Kathy is survived by her two children, Kalen Darney and her partner Kyle Alger and Stephen Darney. Her mother, Dina Joyce, also survived by her brother, Steven Joyce and his wife Lori. and nephew Steve Joyce. She leaves her aunt Marguerite Banzi, an Uncle Edward Banzi. Her cat, Midnight
Kathy would also like to extend a special thank you to Amanda Saltonstall, Patti Miller, and Sarah Thatcher.

"When she shall die, take her and cut her out into little stars, and she will make the face of heaven so fine that all the world will be in love with the night."
