Mary Katherinette (Malone) Goodan, 85, died June 28, 2023, at Logan Health Shelbyy of natural causes. She was born September 21, 1937, in Conway, South Carolina to Nora and Jesse Malone, Sr. The family moved to Choteau, Montana when she was 1 year old. She grew up on the Flying U Ranch, north of Choteau. She attended grade school in Bynum and high school in Choteau. She earned a degree in art and home economics at MSU-Bozeman.
Katherinette began teaching school in Belt, MT in 1959. There she met and married Edward A. Goodan in 1961, at which time she stopped teaching to raise a family. Together she and Ed had three children, Gary, Elaine and Anita.
Katherinette was always a creative spirit, enjoying hobbies such as painting, drawing, and especially quilting.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ed; her parents; brother, Walter Malone; and sister-in-law, Darlene Malone.
Katherinette is survived by her three children, Gary (Veronica) Goodan of Shelby, MT, Elaine (Brian) Gutcher of Loveland, CO, and Anita Goodan of Knox, IN. She is also survived by her brother, Jesse Malone, Jr.; sister-in-law Betty Jo Malone; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Shelby United Methodist Church, 413 Second St. S., with Rev. Kelly Murdock-Billy officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to service. Interment will take place in Mountain View Cemetery following the service.
