Kathy Koehler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Meiselwitz-Vollstedt-DeTroye Funeral Home on Dec. 28, 2025.
Kathy Koehler, 72, of Kiel died Sunday afternoon December 21, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. She was born on January 23, 1953 daughter of the late William and Betty (Madsen) Berger. Kathy was born and raised in Illinois, "Go Cubbies and Bears". She graduated from Barrington High School and continued her education at the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse. After graduation, Kathy moved to Kiel and taught physical education in the Kiel Area School District for 35 years.

In 1980, Kathy married the love of her life, Dale Koehler in Kiel. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2001. Together they owned and operated the Brooklyn Bar in Kiel. For all of you that remember the "Good Old Days", Kathy did a quick learn on how to make "Big Dale's" at the bar and change gears and oil on the race car and still make it to the track on time!!! Those were fun days, LET'S GO RACING! Kathy still managed to make time for family and friends, her dogs and playing softball.

Survivors include her family, sister; Sue Tingle, brothers; Steve (Denise) and James Berger, stepchildren; David (Debi), Mike (Mary), Kelley and Dayle "Jody" Koehler along with their children and grandchildren. Kathy is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends; Karen, Glenroy, Laurie, Cindy, Rosie, and her many neighbors. Kathy had many special furry friends throughout her life; Brandy, Boogie, Mandy, Dusty, Buddy, Cookie, Manny, Katie, Duchess, Duchess II, Chloe and Cash aka Crash.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Dale, parents; William and Betty Berger and brothers; Mike and John.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. She will be laid to rest in the Kiel Belitz Cemetery next to Dale. Meiselwitz-Vollstedt-DeTroye Funeral Home is assisting with funeral arrangements.
