Kathy Kugel Utterback

Kathy Kugel Utterback, 75, widow of Randall Utterback, died Tuesday January 21, 2025. Born in Withers, Kentucky on July 4, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Della Mullins Abney. Kathy was a graduate of Wabash High School and the Kentucky College of Business. She attended St. Peter Catholic Church and was a former cafeteria manager at St. Peter Catholic School for 17 years. Survivors include her son, Jason "JR" Utterback (Melissa Rakes); three grandchildren, Jacob, Nickalas, and Annistyn Kathleyne Utterback; a step-daughter, Regina Maria Belie (Greg); a step-granddaughter, Niki Belie; two great-grandchildren, Ace and Sylas Utterback; four sisters, Faye Holbrook, Barbara Johnson, Ruth Nestleroad, and Ruby Slone; two brothers, Keytron and Terry Abney, and a host of nieces and nephews; her devoted Friend Betty McKenna; and her Godparents Lawrence and Rosemary Kopser and her three beloved Godchildren, Jacob, Matthew, and Elizabeth Walker. In addition to her husband and parents, Kathy was preceded in death by six brothers, Keith, Tenon, Marion Jr; Denzil, Dolie, and Johnney Abney and a sister, Zella Miller. A funeral mass will be 11:30am Wednesday January 29, 2025, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 153 Barr St. Lexington, KY 40507, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7pm Tuesday at Kerr Brothers – Main St., and from 10-11am Wednesday at the Church.
