It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Katherine Ann Young. She died peacefully at home on August 1, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born on February 5, 1949, Katherine devoted her life to being a shining example of the love of Jesus, touching many hearts with her contagious love and warmth.
Katherine was a proud graduate of Texas City High School in Texas City, TX, class of 1967, and attended classes at East Texas State University, where she met Russell. Blessed with a beautiful voice, she found joy in singing in the church choir. She was also a very skilled interpreter and expressed her love for others through signing. Her ability to sign played a significant role in her final days, enabling her to communicate with her loved ones when words failed her.
She found joy in the simple things in life, savoring Blue Bell Ice Cream and Diet Coke with extra, extra "Sonic" ice. Her love for Jesus and His Word was evident in her daily reading and studying of her well-worn Bible. A beloved part of Trinity Baptist Church, Bedford, she ascended to the choir of Heaven, leaving behind her favorite earthly melodies of Praise/Worship music, hymns, and The Gaithers. Her leisure time was spent enjoying Hallmark Channel movies, Little House on the Prairie, HGTV, and cooking shows, as well as reading her Bible, spending quality time with her grandchildren, and visiting Central Market.
In 1969, she joined hands with the love of her life, Russell Young. Together they shared a lifetime of deep committment and love and he survives her in this great loss. She leaves her legacy through her daughters, Alicia Rampy, Jana Isaacs, and Jill Taylor as well as her sons-in-law, Toby Taylor and Christopher Isaacs. She was a loving and caring Mimi to Gabrielle and Osama Al-Zurba, Noelle Rampy, Jacob and Carson Taylor, Emma and Colton Cantrell, and her great grandson, Kaden Scott Webber. She is also survived by her sister, Donna Kreuzer, Brother-in-law, Paul Kreuzer, sister, Gracie Speer, Brother-in-law, Danny Speer, Nephew, Nathan Speer, and Niece, Lindsay Lee and they will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She is preceded in death by her precious mother, Grace Brown, father, AJ Brown, brother, Gerald Brown, and cherished niece, Kristi Punkin Couvillon.
Kathy's sweet spirit and kindness was a daily reflection of the goodness and character of her Saviour. Her open arms and caring hugs left an indelible mark on everyone she met, and her life was a masterclass on love and hospitality. She will be remembered for her sweet spirit, supportiveness, and her special way of making everyone feel loved and cherished. We are "Proud of You!" mom. Thank you for loving us so well.
