Marian Ellen Beavers Anderson of Longview and Marshall passed away the morning of August 17, 2025, at Arabella Senior Living facility in Longview. Ellen was born January 1, 1942, in Gladewater, TX, to Marion Travis Beavers, who grew up in Mings Chapel, TX, and passed away in 1990, and Jean Frances Foshee, who grew up in Gladewater, TX, and passed away in 2020. A lifelong educator and graduate of Longview High School class of 1960, Ellen earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX, and a Doctor of Education degree from East Texas State University in Commerce, TX. Her professional career included working for several Independent School Districts in the service of East Texas students for over 40 years, as well her work for many civic and volunteer organizations and as a member of the Church of Christ. She was married to Floyd Ray Anderson in Longview on May 24, 1964. Ellen and Floyd were loving, caring individuals who did a tremendous amount for other people in their lives: their family, the children in their neighborhoods, and larger communities they were members of, as well as the native plants and animals of Texas. At the lively gatherings they hosted at their beautiful Victorian home in Marshall, they brought together a cross-section of all the people in their lives. Their dynamic partnership was long, vibrant, and larger than life, and they will forever be remembered together as "Floyd and Ellen." Floyd preceded Ellen in death in 2023. She was further preceded in death by her sister Carol Jane Beavers Moore of Conroe, TX, in 2020, and her brother Steven Travis Beavers of Longview in 2021. She is survived by sisters-in-law Betty Anderson Wolfe of Garland, TX; Sarah Beth Beavers of Hallsville, TX; and Mindy Nobles of Austin, TX; and brother-in-law Tommy Moore of Conroe, TX. Surviving nephews include Geoffrey Thomas Moore of Spring, TX; John Travis Beavers of Austin, TX; Billy Reuben Beavers of Anna, TX; Jimmy Plummer of Longview; Larry McFarland of Arlington, TX; and Mike Anderson of Allen, TX. Surviving nieces include Caroline Jane Moore Rainer of Conroe, TX; Melissa Whited and Jean Bentley of Searcy, AR; Brenda Reed of Corsicana, TX; Ruth Daily of Granbury, TX; and Brenda Horton of Heath, TX. Ellen is additionally survived by numerous cousins, grandnephews and grandnieces, classmates, and friends.
