Katelyn Elizabeth-Jennings Farris, known affectionately as Katie to her loved ones, passed away on October 24, 2025, at the age of 32 in Wichita, KS. Born on May 6, 1993, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Katie was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her.

Katie was a proud graduate of West High School, where she cultivated lifelong friendships and a love for learning. After graduation, she found her calling as a painter at Leading Technology Composites, where she was respected for her meticulous work and dedication. Her colleagues remember her as not only a skilled painter but also a cherished friend.

Family was the heart of Katie's world. She was a loving mother to her son, Phoenix Burdine, who was her pride and joy. Alongside Phoenix, Katie's life was enriched by her companion, Erik VanDusen, with whom she shared an adventurous and loving partnership.

Katie was predeceased by her father, Brian Farris, and her grandfather, Gary Bryant. She is survived by her devoted mother, Debra (Bryant) Farris of Wichita, KS; her son, Phoenix Burdine, her siblings, Zachary Farris, Stephanie Hubbard and her husband, and Justin (Sarai) Farris, all of Wichita, KS; and her cherished grandmother, Retae Bryant, also of Wichita, KS. Her nieces and nephews, Tristian, Whittney, Lily, Shelby, and Landon, will miss her fun-loving spirit and the special times they shared. Katie's passing leaves a void in the large circle of extended family and friends who were blessed to know her.

Though her time on this earth was shorter than we had hoped, Katie's impact was profound. Her positivity, love, and zest for life will continue to inspire those who were touched by her presence. Let us honor Katie's memory by living fully, loving deeply, and embracing the adventures that life presents.

Katie's life will be celebrated on Nov. 4, 2025, at Affinity All Faiths Mortuary, 2850 S. Seneca at 1:00 pm, surrounded by her family and closest friends, as they share memories and honor the beautiful life she led. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her, and her legacy will live on through the love she shared and the lives she touched.
