Katlyn Lee Daughdrill Lorio made a grand entrance into the world on August 26, 1990, and from that moment on, she made sure no one ever forgot her.
Born to her proud parents, Robbin and Jeff Daughdrill, Katlyn grew up in
McComb, Mississippi, in the family's beloved home on Third Street - always full of laughter, love, and a crowd of teenagers who felt like family.
From the time she could read, Katlyn always had her nose in a book - often when she was supposed to be doing something else. She started with Junie B. Jones, graduated to Harry Potter, and never stopped exploring new stories. She was a talented tennis player but quickly decided Mississippi heat and perfect hair weren't a great match so she traded her racket for a good book, reality TV, Taylor Swift, and her beloved cats curled up beside her.
For 13 years, Katlyn was a proud JJ White Girl Scout with Troop 166, guided by the wonderful Janet Stewart. She earned her Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards, and was a Junior leader for younger girls, who adored her for her humor, patience, and big-sister energy.
A 2009 graduate of McComb High School, Katlyn then set her sights on New Orleans. She attended the University of New Orleans, earning a degree in hospitality management - a field that reflected her natural talent for making others feel special. While at UNO, she joined Sigma Kappa sorority, where she made lifelong friends and memories filled with laughter, love, and a little mischief.
It was in New Orleans that Katlyn met her future husband, Kyle Lorio. They tied the knot on a crisp December day in 2020 - because Katlyn refused to risk sweating on her wedding day.
Katlyn's sparkle and style were unmistakable, perfectly reflected in her love of pink and leopard print. Her designer purse collection was nothing short of legendary, and each one, of course, had pink Extra gum tucked inside.
Katlyn wasn't exactly the outdoorsy type, which made it all the more amazing that she loved spending time at The Pointe, her family's camp on Lake Pontchartrain. She even worked scheduling swamp tours for a while - a job that proved she could handle adventure, as long as it didn't involve actually being in the swamp.
Katlyn worked at Les Enfants at Trinity Episcopal School, where she loved spending time with the little ones in her care and took joy in their hugs, giggles, and stories.
Her loyalty to the University of Texas Longhorns ran deep, thanks to her Uncle Chip's career with the athletic department. If Katlyn wasn't wearing pink, she was probably decked out in burnt orange. She proudly taught her friends' kids to say "Hook 'Em Horns," just to stir the pot a little - and she loved every second of it.
Katlyn shared her mother's gift for cooking but not necessarily her taste in food photography. She often begged for "editorial approval" before any of her mom's culinary creations appeared online. Her mother didn't always comply, much to Katlyn's chagrin.
Katlyn never met a stranger and could keep a conversation going with anyone. She was funny, opinionated, and never afraid to say exactly what she thought - usually with perfect timing and a smile.
Katlyn made life brighter for everyone who knew her. Her humor, honesty, and heart will be missed every single day.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Jimmy Carol Robertson, and Kaky and Wayne Daughdrill.
She is survived by her loving parents, Robbin and Jeff Daughdrill; her devoted husband, Kyle Lorio; her grandmother, Pat Robertson; and her cousins - more like sisters - Jordan Campitelli, Austin Campitelli, and Carson Barchenger (Wyatt). She also leaves behind her cherished aunts and uncles: Chip and Jeri Ann Robertson, Kathy Campitelli, Bill and Jann Daughdrill, and David and Sissy Daughdrill (Julia and Drew).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Katlyn Daughdrill Lorio Memorial Scholarship Fund, 208 7th Street,
McComb, MS 39648.
Her sparkle will forever light the hearts of those who loved her.
