NORMAN NORWOOD "WOODY" PERSICK, JR. AGE 75
And a resident of the Bonner Creek Community passed away early Friday morning November 7, 2025 at Riverside Medical Center. He was born in Independence on February 16, 1950. Woody proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army. After serving two tours in Vietnam, he concluded his service at Fort Hood, TX as a member of the 518th Military Battalion. Woody would later graduate with a Bachelor's Degree from the University of New Orleans and had a long career as a stock broker. After retiring, he and his family moved to Washington Parish. He enjoyed feeding the wildlife near his home and woodworking, making many canes and walking sticks that he gave to people who were in need. Woody was known for cooking the best gumbo, growing the biggest tomatoes and telling the corniest jokes. He loved family get-togethers, especially during the holidays and he had a special place in his heart for his pet Shih Tzu "Girl".
Survived by:
Wife of 55 years: Ginger Blackwell Persick of Franklinton
2 Sons: Jason Andrew Persick,
Christopher Hayden "Chip" Persick both of Franklinton
Daughter and Son in law: Carrie Allison and Billy Frederick of Franklinton
He was known as PawPaw to his beloved grandchildren: Madison, Wylie, Emma, Dash, Shianne and her husband Mason, Cole, JaLynn, and Drew
Great-grandson: Briar
2 Sisters and a Brother in law: Susan and Timmy Walters,
Cindy LaCour
Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members
He was preceded in death by his parents Norman N. Persick, Sr. and Lettie Cox Persick, sisters Pearl Ricourd, Marion Wunstell, brother Dennis LaCour and other family members.
Visitation will be at Bonner Creek Baptist Church (43075 Bonner Creek Road, Franklinton) on Thursday November 13th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A memorial service followed by military honors will be held in the church at 11:00 am Thursday with Rev. Donnie Miller officiating.
