Katrina Meekins Payne, born on June 21, 1974, in Pasquotank, North Carolina, passed away on August 12, 2025, at the age of 51.
Katrina dedicated her professional life to assisting others in their financial journeys as a Loan Officer Assistant at Southern Bank.
She is preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Macon and Joyce Meekins, and her father, Shelby Larry Hines, Jr.
Katrina leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory forever. She is survived by her husband, Tracy Lutrell Payne, and their two precious children, Rylee Fisher Payne and Ryder Finn Payne. Her mother, Affie Mae Machie, also survives her, along with numerous friends as well as the many children who she loved and welcomed and always made her house feel like home to them, along with extended family members who will deeply miss her presence.
A visitation to honor Katrina's memory will be held at Twiford Funeral Homes, Outer Banks, on August 22, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will follow the next day at Bethany Church of Wanchese on August 23, 2025, at 3:00 pm. Katrina will be laid to rest at Cudworth Cemetery following the service.
Katrina's warmth, kindness, wit, profound sense of humor, and dedication to her family and community will be remembered by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, [email protected] or in a Trust Account for the children at Southern Bank.
