Henry Emmons Ezzell, Jr., was born October 20, 1943 on Ft. Bragg NC at #2 Army Hospital to the late Henry Ezzell, Sr. and Margaret Lorraine Johnson Ezzell. He graduated from New Bern, NC High School in 1962 and attended East Carolina University briefly in 1962. Henry served in the Naval Reserves from 1962 – 1964. Henry is survived by his wife of 61 years Linda Lee Fields. Henry passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side. Henry worked in the hospitality industry from 1970 through 1979 beginning in Norfolk, VA with Holiday Inn as Food and Beverage Manager where he earned top 100 manager in the Holiday Inn System. During his tenure in the industry, Henry and family worked and lived in Charlotte, NC, Columbia, SC and Charlottesville, VA. In November 1977, he accepted the position of F&B Director with Ramada Inn, Nags Head, NC. On January 1, 1979, Henry and Linda leased the Food and Beverage operation at Duck Woods Country Club in Southern Shores, NC. During the eleven years at the club, many lifelong friends were made. Also, during that time, Henry was extended privileges of playing golf, which became his passion until his death. Henry was very proud of his 11 hole in ones over his many years of playing golf. The friendships made through golf were numerous and extending from the Outer Banks, Tidewater, Virginia and all of North Carolina. Henry served one year as President of the North Carolina Seniors Golf Association headquartered in Pinehurst, NC. In 1989 Henry and Linda purchased the restaurant that is now Henry's. Through all the ups and downs over the years after 37 years, it is still going strong. Henry thought of his work family as part of his own family and was always there for each one of them. Henry's greatest accomplishments in life were his marriage, his children, his grand and great grandchildren, and his many friendships through his love of golf and through his lifelong business experiences.
