Sharon Kay Edwards, 83, of
Ashland, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, December 12, 2025.
Born on March 14, 1942, in
Ironton, Ohio, she was the beloved daughter of the late Oral Lewis and Gladys Barker Lewis. In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 64 years, Wayne Buhl Edwards, who passed on August 3, 2025, and her cherished sister, Carolyn Runyon, who passed on September 16, 2025.
Kay was a proud graduate of Boyd County High School, where she was a cheerleader and formed many lifelong friendships. A woman of deep faith and service, she was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Ashland. There, she faithfully worked in the church office and volunteered countless hours with the food pantry, always eager to help those in need.
Throughout her life, Kay embraced both hard work and hospitality. In her younger years, she was employed at Twin Valley Golf Course and Ashland Oil. She and her husband later managed Cedar Knoll Golf Course together, a role that reflected their shared dedication and partnership. Above all, Kay was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy came from caring for her family and others. She was a loving wife, a nurturing mother, and a woman known for her kindness, warmth, and generous heart.
Kay leaves behind her beloved children, son Scott Edwards of Apex, North Carolina, and daughter Kristy Edwards Cleaver and her husband, Phillip, of Lexington, Kentucky. She found immense joy in her role as grandmother and will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Zackery Edwards (Allison), Austin Edwards, Stefani Cleaver (Alex Riggs), and Sarah Cleaver (Micah Holley), as well as her treasured great-grandson, Blake Edwards. Her legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness will live on through them.
A private service will be held with Rev. Jeff Bramel officiating. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
