Kay Ferguson, age 77, of Diana, passed away on December 28, 2023, in Tyler. She was born on October 25, 1946, in Center, Texas to Thomas and Gertrude Ritter.
Kay earned her master's degree in teaching and worked a total of 21 years for Ore City schools as a counselor, and 17 years as a teacher in Diana. She was well known for her people loving personality. She loved to talk with people and get to know them. When she was younger, she loved to fish and go camping. As she got older, she would plan trips with friends to travel the country seeing the different sights the US has to offer. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and do cheerleading. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Benjamin and Gertrude Ritter, her brother, Benny Wayne Ritter, and nephew, Joseph Benjamin Ritter.
Kay is survived by her husband James Ferguson of Diana; son, Ritter Ferguson and wife Linda of Diana; three grandchildren, Tiffanie Dodson, Landon Ferguson, Loren Ferguson-McFarland and fiancé Sam McFarland; 4 great grandsons, Sam McFarland Jr., Joshua, Kayden, Braylon; her nephew, Blake Ritter and wife Janet, their three children, Josh, Zach, and Orin of Paxton Community, and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ferguson will be held at 2PM on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Walnut Creek Baptist Church. A burial will follow at the Walnut Creek Cemetery. The family visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 6PM to 8PM at Croley Funeral Home in Diana.
