Kay Karr Obituary

Kay Foreman Karr, a beloved Mom and Grammy passed away on October 4, 2025, in Orange, Texas. Born on April 14, 1945,in Lubbock County, Texas. She lived a full life filled with love for her family and dedication to helping others through education.

Kay was a loving Mom to Shawn, Neil and Julie. She was also dedicated to the place she called home - Dell City, Texas. She meant so much to so many of her former students, friends and family - Kay Karr, (Kay, KK, Mom) dedicated her life to education, and left her indelible mark on everyone lucky enough to have been taught by her. She made it her mission to prepare her students for the world beyond high school. Everyone who knew Kay Karr knew she was a perfectionist. She liked things done the right way - not the easy way. It was fitting in many ways. Kay had that kind of no-nonsense presence and sharp-eyed look that made you sit up straight. Yet, underneath that firm exterior was someone who cared deeply, who paid attention and believed every kid deserved a shot - and above all was not afraid to push them to rise to it. Her career began in the classroom, she then moved on to the principal's office and eventually became superintendent; but no matter her title, her heart never left the classroom. She never forgot what it felt like to struggle and she never stopped fighting for students - especially the ones others might overlook. She believed in doing things well. She believed in showing up. And she believed in people - even when they didn't believe in themselves yet. Kay was the kind of person who left things better than she found them. We'll miss the way she quietly, fiercely loved the people she served. She gave so much of herself to so many during her career.

She is survived by her two sons and daughter, Shawn and his wife Sandra, Neil and his wife Gina and Julie and her husband Wade. Kay also enjoyed the company of her grandchildren, Cole Karr, Colby Karr, Reece Smith, Corinna Riddle, Kylie Karr, Shelby Smith, Carlos Mendoza, Philip and his wife Angelica, Lily "Karr" Price and her husband Justin. Her legacy continues with her great-grandchildren, Evelynn "Evie" Riddle, Aleyla Mendoza, Kendall Price, Mason Price and Ayanna Mendoza, who brought her immeasurable joy.

Kay is preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Larry Neil Karr. She was also preceded by her sibling-Olan Ray Foreman, as well as her parents, Bud Olan Foreman and Fay Westerman Foreman.

Services will be held on October 11, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Idalou Methodist Church, 518 Chestnut St, Idalou, TX 79329. Arrangements under the care of the Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Idalou.
