Kay Schaeffer Obituary
Born in Pottsville, PA on December 24, 1957, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Cecelia (Corondi) Schaeffer. Kay graduated from Elkton High School in 1976; she then furthered her education at Cecil College earning her associate's degree in social work. Finally, after transferring to Salisbury University, Kay completed her education with a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies.
For several years, Kay worked as a library assistant for Aberdeen Proving Grounds (Edgewood), as well as the University of Delaware. Her ambition led her work at the Union Hospital, Elkton. She continued on with multiple volunteer roles in the Elkton area and internships through her college work. She also enjoyed being a member of the Tri-State Bird rescue.
In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Schaeffer, Jr.; nephew, Matthew Pollitt; and brother-in-law, Timothy Pollitt. She is survived by her sisters, Linda Schaeffer-Weamer (David), Barbara Pollitt and Nancy Davis; nephews, Mike Pollitt and Brian Davis; nieces, Dawn Davis and Christy Davis; and several great nieces and great nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Appleton Road, Elkton, MD.
Flowers or donations may be made in Kay's memory. For donations, the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
