Kaye Daughtry Obituary

Kaye Evelyn Daughtry
October 22, 1941 - June 5, 2025
Kaye Evelyn Daughtry, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of Christ, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at the age of 83, on Thursday June 5, 2025. Born on October 22, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas, to Virginia and Pete Wheeler, Kaye spent her life walking in love, humility, and grace.
Kaye's kindness was known far and wide. A gifted singer with a voice like an angel, she used her talent to glorify God, singing in the Oak Hills Church choir for over 20 years and a small women's a cappella group, Kyrie. Her love for the Lord was woven into every part of her life-whether she was caring for the elderly, welcoming strays (both human and animal) into her home, or simply offering a word of encouragement to someone in need. She had a mother's heart and was a mother and grandmother to many, pouring love into the lives of all who knew her.
Kaye is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years (June 1,1963) Henry (aka Butch) Allen Daughtry, her son Todd Daughtry and his children, her son Kirk Daughtry, and her daughter Megan Daughtry Dybowski and son-in-law Anthony Dybowski and their children. She was a proud and joyful grandmother to Micah, Caleb, and Joshua Daughtry, and a cherished great-grandmother to Henry, Liam, Nate, Luke, and Lucy. She also leaves behind her dear sisters-in-law Carol Daughtry and Jerry Wheeler, nieces Jenny Wheeler Powers, Sarah Wheeler, and Meredith Daughtry Martin, Daughter's in law: Grace Montejano, and Kimberlee Daughtry and a multitude of friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
Kaye is now reunited in heaven with her parents, Virginia and Pete, her brother Les Wheeler, her mother-in law Mary Daughtry, brother in-law Dallas Daughtry and many other beautiful souls she knew. Her legacy of love, faith, and song will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Kaye Evelyn Daughtry will be deeply missed, but her gentle spirit, radiant smile, and unwavering faith will live on in those she loved and served.

Kaye, Mary, Hank, and Megan were so good to me when I lived in San Antonio. They gave me a job, took me into their home when I had surgery and did many countless acts of kindness. I met Kaye in choir and she always felt like family. I am so sorry Hank and Megan. Please know you have always been in my thankful prayers to God. You made a difference in my life.
Love in Jesus,

I will always remember the many hours I spent in Kaye's company since becoming a member of Oak Hills Church over 40 years ago. I think our life group lasted about 18 years with many of our bible studies in Butch's and Kaye's home. I remember Kaye coming to my side during a difficult time in my life, giving me comfort and praying with me. She was a beautiful friend and a gracious, generous and loving woman. I am so happy to know I will see her again. She is where we all hope to be one day. My sincerest condolences to her husband and all her family.
