Keith A. Brown, 95, of Greenwood IN passed away on April 19, 2025. He was born in Sullivan IN to the late Willard and Dorothy (Fields) Brown. He is preceded in death by his wife, L. Effie (Buchanan) Brown and his sisters Margaret Morrison and A. Lucille Alexander. He is survived by his children: Derek (Debbie) Brown of Floyd Knobs IN, Kevin (Charlene) Brown of Greenwood, David Brown of Indianapolis, Lisa (Albert) Andreas of Fort Wayne, grandchildren: Laurann (Brad) Marion, Cara (Todd) Lawson, Kelly (Matthew) Fullencamp, Kacey (Jeremiah) Miller, Steven Andreas, and great-grandchildren: Diego Rodriguez, Kate and Rosie Miller, Levi Marion, Amelia and Maxwell Fullencamp.
Keith grew up in Georgetown then Bedford IN and graduated from Bedford HS in 1947. He received a B.S. from IN Central College (now Univ. of Indianapolis.) in 1951, later his M.S. from Butler University, and served 1951-1953 in the U.S. Army. He married his college sweetheart Effie Buchanan, Dec. 19, 1953 and worked for Perry Township Schools as a 5th grade teacher at Edgewood Elementary, then a Principal at Glenns Valley and Abraham Lincoln Elementaries, Perry East Jr High (now Southport Middle) before becoming an Asst. Superintendent. He received the Sagamore of the Wabash award from then Governor Evan Byah and served in numerous volunteer roles including President of the National Middle School Association, Rosedale Hills United Methodist Church and the UMC conference. After retirement in 1992, Keith wrote articles for the Spotlight Newspaper, covering Perry Township education, and began serving at Greenwood Village South when he and Effie moved there in 2004, helping author a book on GVS history, serving on various committees and as GVS Resident Council President.
Visitation will be at Greenwood United Methodist Church from 12 to 4 p.m. on Friday April 25th and Saturday April 26th 9 -10 a.m. Funeral at 10 a.m. Burial following at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, State Rd 135 Greenwood IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts suggested to UIndy Brown Scholarship Fund, Indy Honor Flight, or Perry Township Education Foundation Scholarship Fund.
