Keith Elliott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Grandle Funeral Home, Inc. - Broadway on Jan. 11, 2026.
Keith Edward Elliott, 59, of Harrisonburg, passed away on January 9, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, friendship and unforgettable memories.

To know Keith was to laugh- often and loudly. He was truly the life of the party, never arriving without a story to tell or a joke to share. His jokes were always hilarious, if not delightfully corny and usually delivered with perfect timing and a grin that made them impossible not to love. He had a rare gift for bringing people together and making every gathering brighter simply by being there.

He was born in Johnstown, PA on August 3, 1966. Keith was a 1985 graduate of Turner Ashby High School and was a lifelong sports enthusiast. He excelled in karate, demonstrating discipline, strength, focus and carried that passion throughout his life. A devoted football fan, he proudly supported the Pittsburgh Steelers and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on.

Throughout his life, Keith formed deep and lasting friendships and was known for his outgoing personality, generous heart and ability to make others feel welcome. He leaves behind many friends whose lives are better for having known him.

Keith was preceded in death by his father, Jack Elliott. He is survived by his loving mother; Dorothy Bernthal, his sister; Kathy Halterman, brother-in-law; Harold Halterman, his nephew; Sam Halterman, his niece; Kristy Halterman, and many cousins along with countless friends who became family over the years.

Pastor Rob Gilmer will conduct a celebration of Keith's life on Thursday, January 15 at 2:00 PM at the Grandle Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway, VA. Friends are invited to gather, share stories and honor a man whose greatest legacy is the laughter he leaves behind.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.

"May we live right, may we live well, but on the day that we leave this earth may our final thought be - That We Lived! - Michael Murdock

Keith, we did Live! We lived large and we laughed hard, we sang, we talked, we cared for each other like inseparable brothers.

Our time was a chapter in a lifelong book that we wrote and acted out in front of of our audience... The World. Our chapter was one of happiness, of learning, of growing and of chapters to follow, but they would never out shine the time we, You and I, wrote the chapter "My Best Friend In High School"

Sending many prayers to the family, I am still in shock to hear the news about Keith's passing. I was so hoping it was not true. Keith could always make me smile and laugh, he was definitely the life of the party. I can only imagine the shenanigans him and our mutual friend Angie will be up too in heaven. Until we meet again my friend.
