Visiting hours will be held Friday (February 23) evening from 4-8 PM at the Carroll-Thomas Funeral Home 22 Oak Street Hyde Park. A funeral service will take place Saturday (February 24) morning starting at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, relatives and friends invited. Interment will be private at families request.
Keith Lewis, born on May 13, 1946, in the vibrant parish of St. Ann, Jamaica, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 8, 2024. Known affectionately as Keith to his friends and family, he was a man of wisdom, adventure, and boundless love. He leaves behind a legacy of joy and cherished memories that will be held close to the hearts of all who knew him.
Keith was the beloved husband of Phylis Lewis, with whom he shared 38 beautiful years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Marlene Lewis of Florida, Althea Lewis of Everett, Conroy Lewis of Hyde Park, and Aleika Lewis of Everett. Keith's role as a father was one he took immense pride in, guiding his children with a gentle hand and a reassuring word that everything would be just fine, often saying, "Don't worry about it."
In addition to his immediate family, Keith is survived by his dear siblings Hervin, Cecile, Dorette, Harriston, and Michael Lewis, all of whom share a homeland of rich culture and fond memories. Keith's role as a cherished brother was filled with laughter, support, and the occasional competitive game of dominoes. His spirit as a fun-loving "Gramps" will forever be echoed in the laughter of his 11 grandchildren and remembered fondly by his many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
Though his formal education was cut short due to the loss of his mother during his childhood, Keith's life was rich with knowledge gained through experience and the relationships he nurtured. He worked with dedication as a Filler Operator for H.P. Hood Milk in Charlestown for 17 years, and upon their closure, he continued his career at West Lynn Creamery in Lynn, where he was not only a colleague but a friend to many.
Keith was a man of varied interests and undeniable passion. He was a frequent visitor to the horse track and had an unmatched skill in dominoes. His love for sports was evident to all who knew him. A fan of basketball legends Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, he also held a deep affection for all things basketball. His loyalty extended to the L.A. Dodgers, and he was an ardent supporter of the Williams sisters, Serena and Venus, in the world of tennis. Keith's love for sports was not merely as a spectator; he reveled in watching his grandchildren play various types of sports, always ensuring to be together for holidays and special occasions.
A fan of college football, Keith enjoyed the thrill of the game, sometimes even placing a friendly wager or two. His adventurous nature was balanced by his loving disposition. Keith understood the importance of family, and his presence during family gatherings was a source of joy and unity.
As we say farewell to Keith Lewis, we celebrate the extraordinary life he led and the impact he made on those around him. His legacy will continue to live on through his family, his friends, and the many lives he touched. We honor a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a presence that will be profoundly missed.
