Keith S. McClung of Chester passed away at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburg on Saturday, February 18, 2023, after a brief illness.
Keith was born into the late John W. and Mary Halene Dilley McClung in Rupert, West Virginia on April 4th, 1938.
He was an educator instilling and inspiring a love for West Virginia as a history teacher at Chester Junior High School and Oak Glen Middle School. After graduating from Rupert High School in 1956, Keith received his bachelor's degree in Education from Concord University in Athens, WV. He was an avid outdoorsman, a lifetime member of the NRA, a faithful member of the Virginia Avenue Church of Christ, and a voracious book reader. Always a history buff, Keith had been involved in several archeological digs as a member of the Ohio Archaeological Society.
On June 10th, 1972, he formed a lasting union with his wife, Elaine Sharp McClung who survives at home. Together they produced 5 children and 12 grandchildren. Jeff (Gloria) McClung of Catlettsburg, KY, and son Brian; John (Tiffany) McClung of Warren, OH, and children Madison, John Jr., Lincoln; Alex (Brooke) McClung of Stephens City, VA, and children Madison, Allen, Claire; Rebecca (Mike) Henderson of Conway, SC, and son Alex; Susanna (Matt) McClung-Rice of Grant Town, WV, and children Jacob, Lainey, Lillie, Liam.
Evangelist Rico Brown will conduct services at The Virginia Avenue Church of Christ on Wednesday, February 22nd, at 3 p.m. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Private entombment will be at the Shadow Lawns Memorial Gardens in Newell, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Virginia Avenue Church of Christ at 201 Virginia Avenue Chester, WV 26034. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester.
