Seven Springs- Keith Kelly Rouse quietly transitioned from his earthly home to spend Christmas with Jesus on December 25, 2023.
Keith was born in Lenoir County to the late Noah Rouse and Gaston Evelyn Kelly Rouse on May 8, 1943. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Carson and Georgia Barwick.
From his early school days through adulthood, Keith was an avid sports fan. Before graduating from Moss Hill School in 1961, he played on the school's basketball team. He remained active in the bowling alley and on the golf course over the years. He was also a die-hard fan of the UNC Tarheels.
A lifelong citizen of the Moss Hill community, Keith was known and loved by many neighbors and friends. He was an active member of the Moss Hill Ruritan Club and attended Union Baptist Church from childhood into recent years when his health no longer allowed him.
Not one to be idle, Keith usually could be found in his barn tinkering or lighting the grill for pig-cooking. He also enjoyed going fishing in the fall with close friends at the Outer Banks. Keith's greatest treasure was his family. He was a wonderful husband, provider, father, and pa. His family will hold close their memories of precious times spent together.
A service to honor Keith's life will be held at Rouse Funeral Home on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 6 p.m. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. Interment will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Westview Cemetery in Kinston.
Keith is survived by his bride of 57 years, Julia Elizabeth Barwick Rouse; son, Kelly Rouse and wife, Anna; grandchildren, Penelope, Jack, and Phoebe Rouse; sister, Mary Rouse Daly and husband, Clyde; and his beloved cat and companion, Rosie.
