Kelli Kaye Steward (Green), 46, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025. Born on July 20, 1978, in Beech Grove, Indiana, Kelli was a lifelong resident of the area and a proud graduate of Beech Grove High School, where she shined both on the softball field and as a member of the swim team.
Kelli was preceded in death by her loving mother, Kathy Swonder, and her dear grandmother, Nina Hire. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and boundless love that will be carried on by her devoted husband, Brian Steward, who proudly called her his Veteran wife.
Kelli will be deeply missed by her father, Herbert Green, and her stepmother, Debbie Green. She is survived by her sisters, Kim Kelsay (Green), Nina May (Swonder), and Emily Swonder; her brother, Joe Green; her sister-in-law, Kimberly Marie Green; and her cherished sons, Austin and Jacob Ball. Kelli was also a beloved aunt to Riley Schmith (Harper), Regan Schmith (Harper), Karah Kelsay, Addi May, Cason Cortez, and Breelynn Green, and a proud great-aunt to many more.
Professionally, Kelli worked for many years as a transcriptionist-likely the fastest typist around. Her talent and dedication were unmatched. Over time, she explored various career paths, always bringing her trademark energy and humor wherever she went.Kelli had a magnetic spirit that lit up every room. Her infectious smile, her ability to bring joy to those around her, and her love of fun were just a few of the many things that made her unforgettable. She loved sunshine, the beach, shopping, and playing Candy Crush-reaching impressively high levels. She cherished spending time with Brian and their two pups, Tessa and Cooper, and she especially cherished time with her amazing sons.
Kelli never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand in the kitchen-she was an amazing cook, especially during holidays and family gatherings, where her laughter and presence made every occasion special.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 12th, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Care, located at 7520 Madison Ave. followed by a funeral service at 6:30 PM. All who knew and loved Kelli are welcome to come and celebrate her life.
Kelli Kaye Steward was a radiant soul whose presence made the world a little brighter. She will be missed beyond words and remembered with endless love.
