Kelly J. Walstad, 66, of Moorhead, MN passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, in his Yuma, AZ residence.

Kelly was born on July 14, 1956, to Clifford and Barbara (Rosenfeldt) Walstad in Moorhead, MN. Kelly grew up in the city of Moorhead with his parents, brother, and two sisters before moving to the family farm in his early childhood. Kelly graduated from Moorhead Senior High School in 1974. After graduating Kelly went on to hold a variety of jobs. Kelly started out driving semi-truck before owning his own cabinet business with Jay Nelson. After stepping away from cabinet making, Kelly decided to farm full-time with his father, Clifford. Kelly stepped away from farming in the mid 90’s to work in the agricultural spraying business. After the ag spraying business, Kelly landed at RDO Equipment company where he spent the next 15 years of his life before retiring in 2021.

Kelly loved being at the hockey rink. Whether it was to watch his son play, coach, or to make sure Corky turned the goal light on, he would always be there. If he wasn’t, he would have been watching from wherever he was at for that time. Kelly also loved to be on the water. Kelly loved to fish, you could often find him at Lake of the Woods fishing with his father and brother, or fishing with his own boat in the lakes country. Kelly had finally settled down in retirement and had big plans for Arizona. He loved the trails, the hills, the mountains, and the desert. It was his own little oasis. He was free, and ultimately he passed doing what he loved and was passionate about.

Kelly is survived by his father, Clifford Walstad; his brother, Lee; his sisters, Kari (Ron) Lammers and Melanie Miller; his son, Samuel (Stef); his nieces, Amy (Tony), Becky (A.J), Melissa (David); nephews, Jay (Lynn), and Aaron; and previous wife, Karis Walstad.

Kelly was preceded in death by his first wife, Lottie Walstad, his mother, Barbara D. Walstad, and his grandparents, Clifford and Meda Walstad.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 12:00 PM with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Burial will be in Hoff Lutheran Cemetery, Rustad, MN.
