Ken Trout Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory - Greenfield on Mar. 10, 2025.
BROWNSBURG - Kenneth Roger Trout, age 65 of Brownsburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 5th, 2025 surrounded by loving family. He was born in Indianapolis on October 19, 1959 to William Everett and Patricia Marie Christina (Merlau) Trout. He met Melissa Lynn Kenworthy during a chance encounter at Indiana University in 1984 and married her two years later on November 1st 1986. Ken enlisted in the Army and took his new bride to Hawaii where he served as a Personnel Administration Specialist (75b) at Schofield Barracks. He graduated from Chaminade University of Honolulu before moving back to Indiana. Ken found his true calling in restaurants in the spring of 1995; over the next decade with RTM, he learned from some of the best team developers and operations leaders in the industry and worked his way from being an Assistant Manager into being a Director of Operations. In 2006, he decided it was time to branch out on his own and began the process of opening his first Wings, Etc. franchise. With the help of his family, Ken grew their business into a multi-unit franchise organization. Still, he was most proud of the five children he raised with Melissa. Ken was a man of great integrity and fiercely kind. He loved Jesus and his family more than anything. His greatest joy in life was playing with his grandbabies.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Melissa Trout; children, Kendall (Matthew) Taylor, Hayden Trout, Mackenzie Trout, and Jacob (Alejandra) Trout; grandchildren Logan Taylor and Avelynn Trout; brothers Dr. William Trout (Candace) and Rev. Edward Trout (Rev. Michael Davis); and mother-in-law Donna Kenworthy. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Patricia Trout; father-in-law, Ronald Kenworthy; his sister, Pamela Trout; and his son Logan Trout.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 11:00am at New Palestine United Methodist Church, 3565 S. 500 W. New Palestine, IN 46163. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Church Cemetery in Greenfield.
