Kendra Dawn Minton

Kendra Dawn Minton, 49, passed away at Columbus Regional Hospital after a sudden illness on April 5, 2025. She was born November 5, 1975, in Columbus, Indiana to Kenneth Minton and the late Sandra (Knott) Minton.
Kendra graduated from North Vernon High School in 1994, working after graduation for Circle K and as a bus driver for the handicapped. She then had a rewarding career as a personal care attendant at Benchmark Human Services of North Vernon in their day service program. Kendra always had a smile on her face and never spoke a cross word to anyone or told anyone "No." She was especially close to her daughter, Alaina Marksberry; they loved doing anything and everything together. To Kendra, the sun rose and set on Alaina; she was her best friend and her whole world. Kendra loved taking Alaina to her high school choir concerts and archery meets. She was a devoted and very active member of the Living Waters Church of God in North Vernon, where she attended services, a women's group, and bible studies. Kendra also loved animals. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, including her sweet emotional support cat Garfield.
Left behind to cherish Kendra's memory are her father, Kenneth (Susan) Minton; her daughter, Alaina Marksberry; siblings, Tina (Jeff) Downs and Nikki (Dan) Day; aunts, Linda Hiler and Donna (Roger) Rotert; nieces, Olivia (Daniel) Vogel, Arlena (Caleb) Howard, and Sophia Day; nephews, Chase Day, Tristan Day, and Layton Day; and several cousins.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Sandra Minton; her son, Preston Marksberry; grandmothers, Arlena Minton and Gladys Kaufman; and grandfathers, Thurstle Minton and James Kaufman.
Funeral services for Kendra will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Voss and Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 316 North Chestnut Street, Seymour. Pastor Warren Lucas of Living Waters Church of God will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service begins. Kendra will be laid to rest immediately following at Riverview Cemetery.
