Kenneth "Ken" Wayne Barron, age 79, of Temple passed from this life during the early morning hours of Thursday, September 19, 2024 at William R. Courtney State Veterans Home in Temple. He was born in Cameron on the 21st day of September 1944 to parents William and Dorothy (Lambert) Barron.
After graduating from Oglesby High School in 1963 Ken enlisted into the United States Air Force. He proudly serviced his country for over 20 years until retiring in 1983 as a Technical Seargent. While in the service he met and married the mother of his children, Jeanne Green, at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO. The couple would make a home together wherever the miliary sent them. After Jeanne's passing in 2007 Ken would find love again with Bobbi Johnston. The two were married in Temple in November of 2010. He made a long career for himself, after his military service with Rosebud-Lott ISD as the school's facilities manager. He was ready to do whatever needed to be done whether it was drive a school bus, cut the grass, or perform maintenance duties around the campus.
Ken loved to spend his time golfing, scratching lottery tickets and listening to music. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather; he loved to spend time with his family. Ken loved six-man football, and he really enjoyed taking his grandson to watch the games with him. Patriotic is a word that encompasses what Ken stood for. He loved his country and loved that he was able to serve his country in the United States Air Force. He has been a resident of the Central Texas area his entire life, with the exception of his service years, and he most recently attended the Golinda Baptist Church. Ken was loved by many, and his memory will live on through the hearts and minds of his family left behind.
He is preceded in death by his parents William and Dorothy, wife Jeanne and one sister, Judy Whitlow.
Ken leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Bobbi Johnston of Temple, daughter Mary Massey and husband Austin of Moody, son Andy Barron and wife Blayr of MO, as well as three grandchildren Alyssa, Alexandra and William, and one great grandchild Zenobia.
Service will held at a later date to be determined.
Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with these arrangements.
