Shawn Edwards Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hewett - Arney Funeral Home on Aug. 13, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Shawn Anthony Edwards was born on February 20, 1967, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 31, 2025. Shawn spent his time on earth trying to make the world a better place, always giving to others, without expecting anything in return. Sharing the word of Christ was very important to Shawn. He went on missionary trips and volunteered with the In-Prison Ministry program. Shawn lived the words he preached, always finding ways to help those around him.

Shawn completed college courses in missionary work, religious studies, and childcare development. While much of Shawn's career was spent in retail management, he also worked for Scott & White as a hospital patient courier, safely transporting patients from one place to another. For the past 8 years Shawn has been a part of the Hewett-Arney Funeral Home family. He was adventurous and enjoyed taking trips, going ziplining, listening to music, woodworking, photography, and spending time with family and friends. Shawn was a wonderful person, who will be greatly missed by many. He made the world a better place and reminded us of the goodness that still exists.

Shawn was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Jean (Minnick) Chavers, who he loved deeply and always strived to protect, and his grandparents who later adopted him, Adam Edward and Kreszenz Minnick.

He is survived by his two sisters, Cindy Singleton and Thea Lee, his stepdaughter from a prior marriage, Melissa Cerda, and close friends who cared for him more than he probably knew.

A memorial service will be held at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 11 o'clock a.m. with Pastor Harlan Haines officiating.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with these arrangements.
