Davis Funeral Homes Rainbow ChapelCarol Marie Edwards passed away on August 11, 2025 in Las Vegas, NV. She was born in Dearborn, Michigan to Helen (Curley) and Vincent Skelton on September 1, 1954.
Carol spent her childhood in Detroit and Sterling Heights, Michigan as the second oldest of 9 children. She earned her degree in teaching from Michigan State University and, after graduation, moved west to Boulder City, NV to start as a teacher.
She took a part-time job at an Italian Restaurant where she met her future husband, David Edwards. Carol and David were married in Las Vegas on August 2, 1980. They had two daughters, Erin and Shannon, whom they raised in Las Vegas. Carol’s love of teaching continued throughout the Valley, working mainly in middle schools as a 7th grade reading teacher. While she retired in 2006, she continued on as a substitute teacher. When not substituting, Carol spent summers with David in Northern Idaho at a family cabin.
She loved learning, taking tours wherever she went, and reading or listening to audiobooks everyday. Carol’s laughter and smile will be remembered by her family and friends - many of which were childhood friends with whom she kept contact. She also loved shopping and had a soft spot for random treasures at craft fairs.
For the past decade, Carol lived with dementia. The light in her eyes and warmth in her smile never dwindled as she spent those precious remaining years with grandchildren. She’s received the highest quality attention as a resident of Aegis Living Memory Care and Carol’s family is grateful for all the support Aegis has provided.
Carol is survived by her children Erin Edwards and Shannon (Edwards) Barker, son-in-law Jeffrey Barker, and grandchildren Annabelle Barker (8) and Connor Barker (4). She is preceded in death by her husband David. Family and faith are the most important things for Carol. We know she is with her husband, parents, and many of her siblings that passed before her - Bob Skelton, Jim Skelton, John Skelton, William (Bill) Skelton, and Danny Skelton. She is also survived by her sisters Mary (Skelton) Uhan, Elizabeth (Skelton) Kata, and Kelley Skelton as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She continues to be loved and remembered on this Earth.
Services will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Las Vegas on August 30, 2025 at 12:30 starting with eulogies and mass at 1:00pm with an offsite reception to follow. Her ashes will be taken to Kellogg, ID to once again join her husband David.
