Margaret (nee Diehl) Butzier of Rochester died August 18, 2025. She was 71 years old. Meg, as she was commonly known, was born May 16, 1954 in Detroit to Jean (nee Taylor) and Lloyd Diehl Jr.

The very proud mother of Jonathan (Elizabeth) Butzier, Julie (Patrick) Defever, and Jean (Chris) Cameron, she is also survived by her sister Sue Buehler. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, an incredible Mimi to Bailey, Mackenzie, Avery, Charlie, Brooklyn, Maggie and Peyton. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her siblings, Cynthia, Julie and Lloyd.

Meg was a graduate of Marian High School and later went to the University of Arizona, Florida Atlantic University (go owls!) and Michigan State University.

She was born to be a teacher. Her compassion and patience led to teaching roles at Guardian Angels and Academy of the Sacred Heart where she met life-long friends and often talked about the amazing people she worked with.

Meg was full of life. She was either traveling, running, biking, walking or baking chocolate chip cookies. She held a volunteer position at the Detroit Zoo, her happy place. She had a sarcastic sense of humor, which would make anyone she was with laugh and smile. In one word, she was infectious.

Meg poured her heart and soul into her grandkids. She loved them unconditionally and often told her kids that she would rather hang out with the grandkids. (Joking of course). Her family was her life and she was the best mother and Mimi anyone could ask for. She was strong, brave, kind, considerate, funny, passionate, loving and a great person to be around.

She will be missed by so many.

Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road, Clawson, Sunday, August 24, 2025, 1-6pm.

In memory of Meg and in lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to the Lloyd H. Diehl Boys & Girls Club, 4242 Collingwood, Detroit, MI 48204 or the Detroit Zoological Society.
