Lucia Helen (DiSalvo) Fields passed away on the evening of April 14th, 2025, at the age of 69 at her home in Berkley, MI. She died peacefully with her family by her side after her long battle with cancer.
Lucia was born late in the evening on the cold winter night of November 28, 1955 – and thus began her love for late nights and her distaste for winter. As the eldest of five children to Lucien and Dolores DiSalvo, Lucia epitomized the "cool" oldest sister and engaged her younger siblings, Suzy, Theresa, John and Joan in her many adventures – taking them to concerts, art exhibits, traveling and parties with her dear friends. She loved to entertain and began her career by dressing in her ballet leotard and tutu and heading to Grandma and Grandpa's to dance to the Lawrence Welk Show in the evenings. Sisters Suzy and Theresa tagged along but were no match for Lucia's lithe and grace. She redefined babysitting by taking the twins, John and Joan, to their first concert – Bob Seger at Pine Knob.
She attended Marian High School, where she met her lifelong friends, "the Marian Flowers," whose everlasting bond brought them all together to celebrate her last days. During high school, Lucia began her career working for the Machus family restaurants, where she formed lasting connections and met Jim – the love of her life and devoted husband and father to their two beautiful sons, Cooper and Maxwell. She later built a long and successful career in the mortgage business at Kaye Financial. But no matter the job or title, it was always the endearing friendships with her bosses and co-workers that brought her joy and made her every day meaningful.
Lucia's lifelong philosophy was "You get back what you give," and for her, that meant showing up with kindness, generosity, and a genuine desire to help others without expecting anything in return. This spirit of giving was most evident with her family and friends. They were the center of her world, and she cherished every moment, never missing a chance to connect. Always the first to say, "Let's get a picture!", her many, many photo albums are filled with decades of love and laughter-a testament to how deeply she valued the people in her life.
Lucia's favorite place was anywhere under direct sunlight, laid out on a deck chair adjacent to a body of water, seated next to her family and friends. Her memory will be lovingly carried on by her husband Jim Fields, her children Cooper and Maxwell, her family and friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love, laugh, generous hugs, and great spaghetti sauce will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Suzy Plaskey, and her parents, Lucien and Dolores DiSalvo. She is survived by her husband, Jim Fields, sons Cooper and Maxwell Fields, brother John DiSalvo (Janinne) and sisters, Theresa Orr (Stevan) and Joan Brannigan (Brian). She is also survived by many brothers-and sisters-in-laws, and her favorite nieces and nephews, who affectionately called her, "Miss Lucy." We are heartbroken. She is gone too soon.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 5-8 PM at Lynch & Sons (1368 N. Crooks Rd., Clawson, MI 48017). Funeral Mass Friday, April 25, 2025, 12 PM at St. Regis Church (3691 Lincoln Drive, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48301). Visiting at church begins at 11:30 AM.

I haven´t seen Lucia in over 50 years... I lost touch and live in Tx. Someone from Michigan told me about her passing. It brought tears to my eyes because she was so special and the way her life was described is exactly how I remember. Her smile laugh... she was one in a million
