Larry Neal Barron, 83, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the Martinsburg Veteran Affairs Hospital.

Born Wednesday, September 3, 1941, in Friedens, PA, he was the son of the late Floyd Barron and the late Mary (Hetzer) Barron.

Larry graduated from Somerset Joint High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps with HMX-1. After 37 years with Mack Truck, he retired in 2001. A dedicated member of the United Auto Workers, he served as a representative for the Community Action Program and was the recipient of two Bobby Fouche Awards-one from the Central Maryland Labor Council and another from the Western Maryland Democratic Summit.

Throughout his life, Larry gave generously of his time in service to others. He began as a Scoutmaster for Long Meadow Church of the Brethren, a role he held for eight years. A devoted member of Covenant Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years, he served in numerous leadership positions within the congregation.

Larry became a Mason in 1976, joining the Medairy Lodge in Williamsport. Over the years, he attained the 32nd degree and served as Worshipful Master of Medairy Lodge for two terms. He was also Past Associate Guardian of Bethel #26, International Order of Job's Daughters; Grand Inspector of Masons for the State of Maryland; and Past President of the Maryland Masonic Research Society.

In addition, Larry was deeply engaged in civic life, actively participating in both local and state Democratic Party efforts. His life reflected a steadfast commitment to service, leadership, and community.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Mae Barron; daughter, Catherine Middlekauff and grandchildren, Caitlin Middlekauff and Camden Middlekauff.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack, Thomas, Floyd Jr., Jay, and Donald Barron.

A memorial service will be held Monday, August 18, 2025, at 6:00 pm, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North Hagerstown, MD.

Family will receive friends following the service from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
