Kenneth F. Boes, 85, of Evansville, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, September 27, 2025, surrounded by family. Ken was born on April 10, 1940, in Fostoria, Ohio to the late Albert and Mary Lou (Kummerer) Boes. He was a veteran of the United States Army 101st Airborne Division, serving from 1960 to 1963. Ken worked as a lineman for SIGE&Co; owned and operated A&F Fire and Safety and was a salesman for E-One Firetrucks. He enjoyed spending time on his pontoon boat on the Ohio River and camping trips to anywhere warm and sunny. Ken was a member of the Westside Nut Club for many years, the Evansville Boat and Ski Club, Corpus Christi Catholic Church and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He also enjoyed volunteering his time at Ascension St. Vincent, where he drove the shuttle for many years. Ken was gentle, strong-willed, intelligent, supportive and ambitious. He was a hero to many. Surviving Ken are his wife Charlene Laughary Boes; a daughter, Kathy (Mat) Brainerd of Naples, Florida; sons, Jeff (Kellie) Boes of Jupiter, Florida and Bryan (Abby) Boes of Newburgh; stepson, Brad (Joanne) Laughary, and grandchildren, Alex and Leah Brainerd, Nick and Zach Boes, Charlie and Lila Boes. He is also survived by three brothers, Lanny, Marvin and Dwayne, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his stepmother, Bertha Boes and by a sister, Janet Steinmetz. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Tom Kessler officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Monday and from 10:00 AM until service time on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 610 E. Walnut Street, Evansville, IN 47708, the Vanderburgh County Humane Society, 400 Millner Industrial Drive, Evansville, IN 47710 or PDEVV, PO Box 631, Evansville, IN 47704.
