Kenneth Burkholder, 86, of Ephrata, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024, at the WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. Born in Ephrata, Ken was a son of the late Carl and Alma (Buchter) Burkholder and devoted husband to Phyllis W. (Wolf) Burkholder for 64 years.
Ken was a graduate of Ephrata High School, class of 1956. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1960. For over 36 years Ken worked for food brokerage firms, and he was a longtime member of the Bethany United Church of Christ in Ephrata. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed shooting pool at local billiard halls. Ken also enjoyed a game of chance and picking a winning horse at the Penn National Racetrack. Most of all Ken loved his family.
In addition to his wife Ken is survived by three children, Susan Oberholtzer (Dennis) of Myrtle Beach, SC, David Burkholder (Rhonda) of Brownstown, and Karen Burkholder (Sheila) of Lancaster; a granddaughter, Brittany Hill (Alex) of Memphis, TN; great grandson, Hudson Hill; and brother, Timothy Burkholder (Linda Staller).
Services are private and Ken's final resting place is Wolf Cemetery, Ephrata.
