Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith Funeral & Cremation Care on Jan. 29, 2025.
With heavy hearts, the family of Kenneth George Hanlin of Nicholson Loop, Morgantown, announces his passing at the age of 76. Kenny died peacefully at his home following a series of illnesses.
Born on April 5, 1948, in Sunny Side, MD, Kenneth was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew him. He left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and life well-lived.
Kenneth, a proud United States Marine Corps veteran, was a man of simple pleasures. He found delight in a good cup of coffee, savored delicious food, and could often be found engrossed in his model trains. Kenneth was a diligent worker, a member of the Laborers Union, whose dedication and commitment were truly admirable. His astounding sense of humor was something to behold, as he had an uncanny ability to make anyone laugh, including himself. Yet, it was in the role of a devoted husband, an adoring father, and a doting grandfather that Kenneth truly shone. His love for his family was unwavering, and his happiest moments were those spent in the company of his grandchildren.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Hanlin; his children Melissa Hanlin Nicholson (Michael), Misty Hanlin Baily (Brandon), Lonnie Hanlin, and Amanda Hanlin McCartney (Gage); his grandchildren Billy Crowder, Megan Hanlin, Maranda Hanlin, Jacob Devall, Michael Watson, Shylar Hanlin, Caylie Hanlin, and Savannah Baily; his great-grandchildren Devon Hanlin and Koen McCartney; his siblings Bobby, Dale, Jimmy, Gary, Dorothy Minear, Nina Haskell, and Nadara Spangler; and his son-in-law, Ron Devall, Jr.
Preceding him in death were his parents Alvin and Mildred (Sugars) Hanlin; a daughter Brandy Devall in 2018; three sisters, Glenna Miller, Nelda Hanlin, and Alma Leaeitt; and four brothers, Billy Hanlin, Alvin Hanlin, Jr., Mikey Hanlin, and Darrell "Butch" Hanlin.
We invite you to share your memories, stories, and photos of Kenneth on his memorial page. Your tributes will serve as a comforting reminder of the joy and laughter he brought to us all.
