Kenneth L. Hoff, 92 of
Conrad, IA passed away, Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center, IA. A visitation will be held 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Military honors will follow the service at Oakwood Golf Course in Conrad where lunch will be served. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the BCLUW Foundation or the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center. Anderson Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the arrangements. Ken was born to Eugene and Louise (Schneider) Hoff in rural Bon Homme County, SD on October 4, 1933. In 1951, he graduated from Tripp High School in
Tripp, SD. Following graduation, he worked for his father in the family's implement business and attended Southern State Teacher's College in
Springfield, SD until he joined the U.S. Army in 1954. He served his country until March of 1956 and returned to Southern State Teacher's College to earn his bachelor's degree in industrial arts.
Ken married Carol Eberhardt on May 31, 1961, at Zion Lutheran Church in Scotland, SD. From 1961 to 1963 he taught industrial arts and coached all sports at the public school in Hartington, NB. During the following two years he taught and coached football, track, and wrestling at
Plainfield, IA. In 1965, he made his home in Conrad where he would teach and coach for 27 years. In 1971, he earned his master's degree in industrial education from Truman State University in
Kirksville, MO.
He was an active member of the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center for many years and held various offices during that time. He was honored to be a member and officer of the BCLUW Education Foundation. He was a long-time member of the Oakview Nursing Home board where he served as secretary for many years. He was also a member of Pheasants Forever, the Conrad Park Board, the Conrad Museum Board, Chain Gang for home football games, and BCLUW Fitness Room. Ken also volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the Veterans Memorial at the Conrad Cemetery, the Iowa Veterans Home, and played a role in the construction of the Conrad Swimming Pool and Dreamland Playground. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of the American Legion Post 681 where he helped plan and organize fundraising events.
Ken enjoyed visiting and spending time playing cards with friends. Whenever possible, Ken spent time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ken was a long-time season ticket holder for the Iowa State Cyclone football games and wresting meets and attended many of those events with his sons and grandchildren.
Ken will be missed by his two sons; Curt (Linda) Hoff of Ames, IA, Alan Hoff of Waterloo, IA, six grandchildren; Kelsie (Keith) VanBeek of Jefferson, IA, Katie (Scott) Burnette of Oakridge, NC, Curry (Tasha) Hoff of Johnston, IA, Carter (Kylie) Hoff of Parkersburg, IA, Coby (Emily Beehler) Hoff of Grimes, IA, and Cooper Hoff of Ames, IA, nine great-grandchildren; Griffin and Claire VanBeek, Leo, Annie, and Olivia Burnette, Vienna Hoff, and Brooks, Haven, and Scottie Hoff. Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Carol.
