Kenneth Kral Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Herman Meyer & Son, Inc. on Dec. 12, 2025.
Dr. Kenneth John Kral, beloved husband, father, grandfather, physician, and friend, passed away on November 17, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born in Flushing, Queens, and raised in New Hyde Park, New York, Ken lived a life defined by kindness, humility, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to others.

After graduating from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1977, Ken devoted his life to the practice and advancement of cardiovascular medicine. He was a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, past president of the Louisville chapter of the American Heart Association, and a member of the Jefferson County Medical Society, the Kentucky Medical Association, and the American Society of Echocardiography. Over the course of his career, he served in numerous leadership roles at local hospitals, including Chairman of the Department of Medicine, Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation, Director of Nuclear Cardiology, and Co-Chairman of the Executive Committee.

For nearly 40 years, Dr. Kral served the Louisville community as a cardiologist, saving countless lives and touching many more with his kind, vibrant spirit and exceptional care. Patients, friends, and family alike described him as brilliant, warm, and deeply devoted to the well-being of others.

Beyond medicine, Ken was a talented artist and photographer, a humble man with a wonderful sense of humor, and someone who found true joy in helping others. He generously volunteered his time at the Home of the Innocents and was known for his thoughtfulness, generosity, and rare ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. Above all else, he loved his family deeply and wholeheartedly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Edward Kral, and his brother-in-law, Steve Molldene.

Ken is survived by his loving wife, Jeannie Kral; his daughters Meredith Kral (Danny Sullivan), Adrienne Gibson (Cole Gibson), and Michelle Magrum (Jason Magrum); and his cherished grandchildren Sawyer, Jackson, and Barron. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Erath (Doug); nieces Kathie, Danielle, Sarah, and Ruth; and nephew Ben Eskind.

Ken was truly one of a kind. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the patients he healed, and the family he so dearly loved. A celebration of life will be held for Ken on January 18th, 2026, at the Gheens Foundation Lodge in Beckley Creek Park at 1421 Beckley Creek Pkwy, Louisville, KY 40245. Visitors may stop by anytime between 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm EST to pay their respects, share happy memories, and celebrate Ken's life and incredible spirit. RSVPs encouraged: https://pp.events/bjGdkXMN
